This worksssss like a hot damn. It is so vindicating seeing the popup pop into existence and then get banished a second later, without any clicking or intervention on my part. :3 Away with ye, villain!
Should note you need the Stylish extension (available in Chrome and Firefox at least, possibly more browsers idk) to run it smoothly. But Stylish is a dead useful extension anyways (there is a script that fixes LJ’s ~updated~ comment pages, which in my eyes makes Stylish a tool of the gods themselves) so it’s not that much of a sacrifice. :)
eta: okay it has dismissed the popup like maybe five times since i installed it the other day and each time it does i make this excited face like i am a small child with something shiny being dangled in front of me
what i am saying is i endorse this product highly

….. prove it. I mean, let me test read. =D (not that that would help you a lot, since my engrish is terrible and stuff, but hey, it’s worth a try XD)
thank you but i am definitely at max capacity for people who have read it
i can only feel apologetic/repentant to so many people at once is the thing
also this is so stupid because usually i am not nearly this like. panicky about approval/judgement/critique of my beautiful works of literature. i don’t know what it is about this thing in particular that is giving me the hibbly jibblies.

Question with 1 note
myramuraiya asked: Hikaru no go. :D
Hmmm. Possibly I never really ‘got’ affection for Isumi? Or Isumi/Waya as a pairing? But that’s not really unpopular; it’s Hikago fandom, no one’s going to overtly give you grief or make you feel ‘wrong’ over any particular opinion (unless you don’t ship Akira/Hikaru or permutations thereof; I know from sources that it is difficult to engage/feel a part of the fandom if you read them platonically or whatever). Aaaanyways Isumi and his entire spirit quest to China bores me.
I don’t have much love for the high school character set. I like the pro world and the insei kids (with exception of Isumi) a whooole lot more and I kind of love the insei arc so madly, I can’t even. Sometimes I rewatch/reread episodes in that arc and it’s just like — one of those things I can’t get enough of. :3
I guess there’s some heavy sighs over the manga conclusion (maybe not in fandom-fandom but in overall perceptions/impressions of the series) but I’ll be real: I love Hikago’s manga ending. A lot. I would not change a thing about it. It is perfect. :| I feel this way about other consistently sighed-at endings coughEscaflownecough soooooo maybe this is less ‘unpopular opinion’ and more ‘my brain is a weird brain.’

ia, Saki was great. yeah, I agree about the potential never really being used like it could be too… I still like the entire series, I just wish it did more?
Yeppp.
Although like — if you read the entire series as this elaborate meta commentary on its theme of disenchanted/disenfranchised/powerless youth, then it is oddly appropriate that all that seeming potential never got off the ground.
(Also this conversation has reminded me that I never posted my FST for this series. God. I swear I have an unposted FST for legit every single thing I’ve ever watched/read and even half-enjoyed lol.)

tenpa asked: Eden of the East
Despite the fact that I was involved in this fandom while it was airing, I can remember nothing of its opinions. :| Probably because there’s not a lot of fanwork or activity? The fandom barely reacted to the movies (especially Paradise Lost) as far as I recall… am I totally inventing this perception lskdjf.
I always had the sense that the fandom was sort of — holding back on any really strong feelings one way or another, possibly because we kept waiting for information or resolutions or revelations to come that uh never ended up coming. And that everything that did get speculated on turned out to be red herrings or get dropped entirely.
I seem to recall there was the usual ‘ugh female lead’ sentiment, which is dumb! I wanted more Saki stuff. :( I also wanted some agency for her that wasn’t ‘be everyone’s motivational mascot’. I found her character really interesting (probably moreso than Akira’s, honestly; ‘leave me alone bread’ oh my god Saki <3) and wish it hadn’t been distilled down to ‘chasing after Akira a lot’.
I never really got all the ‘Juiz is the bestest part!’ hype. Need more badass female characters, less badass AIs with female voices.
That Oasis song gets points for being unique for an anime OP (and for dat OP sequence, which is sweet! not even 1% as sweet as the ED though~) but no points for actually being a good song. /snob
Also I am kind of — relieved fandom never got all omg bestest series after it concluded with the second movie. Sometimes I summarize Eden of the East as ‘really rich premise and setup, tons of potential in both concept and execution; all of which is never capitalized on.’ :( Which makes me so very sad because I LOVED the anime up until the point where I started to suspect the other shoe wasn’t, in fact, ever going to drop and we weren’t going to get payoff. :/

orwells-waifu asked: Utena? ¯\(^ . ^)/¯
I have never been in the fandom enough to really give a good answer for this; I’ve read a lot of meta and watched it a ton of times and I am quite happy with that!
Ummm I guess I don’t find the movie as LOL OFF THE WALL WHACKY WHAT IS GOING ON as is the common perception? Like it’s pretty… comprehensible to me. Ikuhara’s quite consistent with Utena as a general verse in terms of symbolism, etc (moreso than he was in Penguin Drum, which has more, I guess, if not superfluous then unnecessary trappings involved? that’s another story) so I don’t ever really get those moments of ‘what the fuck’ because even when things are ‘what the fuck’, they are shaped in a way that fits into slots already established canonically? Does that make sense. :|
